Rental car companies are stringent when it comes to smoking in their cars. Let’s go over the ways to get smoke smell out of your rental car.
The first thing you should do is wipe down all hard surfaces in the rental car with either vinegar or Windex.
Make sure you clean all the windows with the Windex thoroughly as possible.
Clean the dashboard with the vinegar and around all hard surfaces in the car. The vinegar will attack the tar that is left behind from smoking.
Some people will say grab some Febreze, but let’s be honest here, Febreze is not good against smoke smells.
What you need is Ozium. Ozium is made for situations like this where you have the smoke odor, and you need to get rid of it.
Ozium is very strong, so a few sprays here and there will take care of the odor. It doesn’t mask the smell; it gets rid of it.
You can get Ozium here (***ad).
You got to make sure you clean out the car vents too. The vents are notorious for holding in all kinds of smells.
Turn your car’s blower on, and from the outside of the vehicle where the windshield wipers are, there are some vents. Just spray once into that vent and let it suck in the spray so that it can kill the odor inside the vents.
Also, turn the air on recirculate and where the passenger’s feet are spray down there, and it will suck in that spray and fill the vents there too.
After you have clean all the hard surfaces and used Ozium on the rental car, you should be good to go. No need to go into too much detail on cleaning the fabric or upholstery since it’s not your car.
Bringing a rental car back with it smelling like smoke can be an extra charge to you even if the rental company doesn’t say or mention it. Its usually buried in the fine print somewhere.
