How to Get Rid of Smoke Smell on Lips/Mouth

Everyone and their mamas were giving some crazy ideas on how to get rid of that nasty smoke smell you get in your mouth from smoking cigarettes. A lot of it was just pure crap until one day; I set out to find the best methods for removing the smell from my lips and mouth.

Here is the list of ways that I have figured out how to get rid of the cigarette odors from your lips and mouth.

Brush Your Teeth

We can’t forget the most straightforward method first. Just brush your teeth, gums, and even brush the outer parts of your lips to remove the odor and black tar that smoking can cause.

Eat An Orange

When in a tight spot and need to make changes to my breath, I found that eating an orange to be the most effective. You got to be very messy when you eat it so that you can get the orange juices on your lips and tongue.

You can also use and apple too! Apples work great for absorbing odors, and they taste great.

If you’re more of a fan of lemons, squeeze one in your mouth. You can take the orange and lemon and do that funny mouth thing to allow the juices to get into your lips.

Throat Sprays

If you think about it, most of the smoke smell comes from the back of your mouth and not the front where the lips. Most things like mouth wash or even brushing your teeth will leave out the back of the throats.

You can buy some regular throat sprays for coughing and follow the directions to help with the smoke smell. Just be careful with this and any other medications out there. Don’t overdo it!

Eat a Frosty!

My preferred solution is to go to Wendy’s and get me a frosty. Yea, I know it sounds stupid, but milk is fantastic at coating the cigarette smoke on my lips. Plus, the natural way you eat ice cream or shakes requires more use of the lips and tongue than most people care to think about.

Also, eating something with milk in it helps to coat the throat too, as we have learned above.

Apple Cider Vinegar

So I got this one friend who swears by Apple Cider Vinegar and says it would help to get rid of the smoke smell from your mouth. I don’t know as I hate vinegar, so I’m going to trust them on this one.

It’s worth a shot!

Chew Gum

Get some sugar-free gum and start chewing it. Everyone says to do it, but I feel like it’s not as effective as just getting some cough drops. Some menthol cough drops work fantastic for smoke odors that can get trapped in the back of your throat.

I recommend the cough drops of the throat sprays since they’re so much easier to carry.

Menthol Chapstick

The lips are the first thing to smell when smoking since they’re the ones in contact with the cigarette butt. That’s why it’s smart to carry someĀ Menthol ChapstickĀ around with you to help fight that the horrible smells from smoking.

Start Vaping

Quit smoking and start vaping instead. If you’re searching for a way to get rid of smoke breath or getting rid of it from your lips, then you might want to consider vaping instead.

Your partner will love you for it. Its easier to hide the smell of smoking with an e-cig. And you get the fix you need, it’s a win-win. Just give e-cigarettes a shot if the smell of smoke is a concern to you and your breath.
