Your microwave can pick bad odors from the foods that you cook. For instance, if you burnt meat, pizza, popcorn, the smell of these foods will be left in the microwave and stink up the kitchen.
In this article, I will take you through the various tips on how to remove smoke smell from the microwave. You can successfully eliminate the odor by using some household ingredients such as vanilla, baking soda, lemons, just a few to mention.
Make sure you unplug the microwave when you use water and other liquids to clean it. Think Safety!
Put at least 25 ml of baking soda in a bowl containing mostly water. Put the content in the microwave and run on high for at least six minutes.
Allow the bowl to sit in the microwave for an hour. After one hour, wipe the inside of the microwave. Clean it using soap and water. Also, you can clean the microwave using a wet cloth dipped in a solution of water and baking soda.
By so doing, the smoke smell will be no more in your microwave.
Place at least four teaspoonfuls of vanilla in a bowl of water.
Place it in the microwave and heat until the solution boils. Let the microwave stay with the vanilla steam for 30 minutes and then wipe the inside of the microwave clean.
Vanilla is effective in getting rid of the bad microwave odor.
I witnessed a friend of mine use lemon juice to clean his microwave that was full of burnt popcorn smell.
Put a solution of lemon juice and water in a bowl and place it in the microwave. Run the microwave on high for about a minute.
Wait two minutes before removing the mixture. The microwave will be free of any smell after a few minutes. Do not open the microwave door until the mixture cools down.
This is my tried and true Lemon Juice that I like using.
Put a mixture of ripe berries in a microwave-safe bowl.
Cover the berries with a clean wrap. Put them in the microwave and heat for three minutes.
The berries will melt and give the microwave and the entire house a beautiful smell. They will get rid of the stinky smell in your microwaves.
Put at least two tablespoons of coffee into the microwave-safe bowl. Add some water, preferably a half of a cup.
Microwave the content for at most 2 minutes but check after every 30 seconds to top the water off if it is needed. Remove the coffee mixture after the smell is gone.
The coffee produces a lovely aroma that neutralizes all the bad odors inside the microwave.
Here’s the one you probably never heard of. Yet its got to be one of the more effective ways to get rid of the nasty smoke smell that lingers in a microwave.
You can get Simple Green here, and it’s worth every penny. You can use this stuff anywhere except for metals like aluminum. But for hard surfaces found in a Microwave Oven, this stuff gets rid of the tough stains and leaves a great odor behind.
Just wet a rag with water and spray the rag with Simple Green. Then wipe the inside of the microwave with this wet rag. It’s that easy. Make sure you get the outside of the microwave and also make sure the microwave is unplugged.
